The SkySight Technologies company name originates from Skye-Syte Engineering, owned and operated by Philip Berger, principal consultant Pat McCammon’s grandfather. Skye-Syte was founded in the early years of WWII and fabricated machine parts for the war effort, specifically parts for the anti-aircraft guns commonly called ack-ack guns purchased by the Rock Island Arsenal. He operated the business out of the basement of his home, where the only view of the outside was through a small basement dormer window. All they could see was sky. Skye-Syte Engineering was closed in the early 1950s. Phil Berger is on the left in this historic photo from the 1940s.
