skysight-1943-workingThe SkySight Technologies company name originates from Skye-Syte Engineering, owned and operated by Philip Berger, principal consultant Pat McCammon’s grandfather. Skye-Syte was founded in the early years of WWII and fabricated machine parts for the war effort, specifically parts for the anti-aircraft guns commonly called ack-ack guns purchased by the Rock Island Arsenal. He operated the business out of the basement of his home, where the only view of the outside was through a small basement dormer window. All they could see was sky. Skye-Syte Engineering was closed in the early 1950s. Phil Berger is on the left in this historic photo from the 1940s.

Phil first operated the business out of the basement of his home (1940s photo to the right). The
only view of the outside was through a small basement dormer window, and all they could see
was sky.

As the company grew, Skye-Syte Engineering moved to its own building (shown above). The
business closed in the early 1950s.
